Heshan Flexi Packaging made minced meat out of Brumbie’s International’s bowlers, when they amassed 372/9 in 40 overs (almost 10 runs an over) as they went on to win the match with a huge margin of 257 runs at the ongoing MCA ‘D’ Division 40 overs League Tournament 2017, which continued last weekend.
Heshan Flexi’s first five batsman, Chalitha Chamod (62), Srinath Jayasekera (63), Rasika Chandana (50), Ruwan Ranasinghe (50) and Gayan Prasanga (83 in 44 balls inclusive of 4 sixes and eight fours) all scored half centuries.
All in all, 16 sixes and 38 fours were scored by Heshan Flexi batsmen.
Heshan Flexi’s left-arm leg spinner Srinath Jayasekera topped it up with a fine spell of 5.2-18-5.
The second team that cleared the 300-run mark was Kanrich Finance ‘B’, who hammered Hemas Group to the tune of 316/7 in 40 overs and went on to win by 206 runs.
Osanda Fernando hit a sparkling century (101 in 92 balls inclusive of 2 sixes and 14 fours) while Akila Dhananjaya ripped through with a ferocious spell of 8-2-21-5 for Kanrich Finance.
The third team to clear the 300-run mark for the weekend was Citizens Development Business – 301 for 9 in 40 overs, riding on a century scored by middle-order batsman Praveen Fernando (100 in 63 balls inclusive of 3 sixes and 14 fours)
A gutsy, unbroken 41 runs from 15 balls inclusive of 5 sixes and 2 fours by No. 8 batsman Vinoth Kumar gave Softlogic Holdings a heart-stopping 1-wicket win over David Pieris Motor Co.
DPMC, batting first put up a challenging total of 248 for 9 in 40 overs, helped by half centuries from Prasad Niroshan (60) and Indunil Paranamana (62 not out).
Softlogic 184 for 6 in 31 overs was propped up by their seventh wicket pair of Vinoth Kumar and Ashan Udayanga (38).
