Sponsors Stafford Motor Co. opened their campaign on a high note with a comprehensive 112-runs win over debutants Wurth Lanka in the sixth Stafford-Honda, MCA “G” division 25-Over League Tournament 2016 which got off to a start last weekend.
The ‘Honda Boys’ took to the fast lane, as they amassed 262 for 5 in 25 overs, riding on a 100-run stand for the second wicket in 48 balls in between Sanjaya Gangodawila (97 in 57 balls, inclusive of 04 sixes and 12 fours) and Ashanth Singappuli (98 not out in 56 balls, inclusive of 04 sixes and 12 fours); they enjoyed the rest of the ride , bowling out Wruth Lanka for 150 in 24 overs, as Sanjeewa Vishan snapped up 5 for 24 in 04 overs.
LAUGFS Holdings and Cargills Bank making their first appearance in MCA Cricket won their opening games, but the other debutants, CEAT International, Micro Holdings & Roche Products failed to make a memorable entrance.
The other highlight was the tournament opened with 02 centurions; Jetwing Travels, middle order batsman, Ashan Wijeratne hitting a whirlwind 137 not out in 61 balls, inclusive of 10 sixes and 14 fours Vs. Metropolitan and Mihin Lanka, opening batsman, Ishan Jayawardena scoring a valliant 119 in 79 balls, inclusive of 03 sixes and 16 fours Vs. Tech-one Global.
