McLarens’ shuttlers shine at Sudirman Cup

McLarens brand ambassadors Achini Ratnasiri and Thisara Nimmika were welcomed by company officials upon their return from the Vivo BWF Sudirman Cup Team Badminton Tournament, which was held in the Guandong Province of China from 10-17 May. 

Sri Lanka’s badminton players fared impressively at the Sudirman Cup Tournament, comprehensively beating Israel, Kazakhstan and Seychelles to top their subgroup 4B.



Ratnasiri, the former women’s national singles champion, played along with Thilini Jayasinghe and Lekha Shihani against Seychelles, Kazakhstan and Israel. 



She played along with Nimmika Edirisuriya in the Mixed Doubles and won all six of her games with an aggregate of 255 points and was ranked second among 21 players in the group. 



Nimmika won four of his six encounters and scored 258 points during the 14 sets he played. 

The Lankan men’s doubles team comprised Roshan Kumara, Tissara Nimmika and Dhakshika Gunatillake while the women’s doubles side consists of veteran players Thilini Jayasinghe, Lekha Shihani and Achini Ratnasiri.



By defeating Israel in subgroup 4B, Sri Lanka had to face the Philippines. They ended up losing and finishing runners-up, occupying 29th place overall. 



With encouragement and guidance from the senior badminton players of the McLarens Group, their sponsored team members have performed exceptionally at various tournaments over the past few years. 

The McLarens team consists of some of the best badminton players in the country. They are provided with all the necessary support in order to succeed in their sport and bring pride to their company as well.
