Medi-Calls Ltd. announced their partnership as the Medical Service Sponsor of Dream Cricket for 2016-17. Introduced to Sri Lanka by the Rotary Club of Colombo West, Dream Cricket provides differently-abled children the opportunity to play and enjoy the game of cricket.
Dream Cricket Sri Lanka is spearheaded by the Rotaract Dream Cricket Committee (RDCC) comprising Rotaract Clubs of University of Moratuwa, National School of Business Management, Colombo West, American National College, and Alumni of University of Moratuwa. The next Dream Cricket Day will be held on Saturday 25 June from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Stanley Jansz Grounds, Colombo 2.
Dream Cricket Day will provide the opportunity for 89 differently able children to experience cricket according to their own abilities. The Rotaractors will be helping the children to play cricket and to improve their batting, bowling, running and catching skills. Parents of some children will also be invited to witness their children playing and enjoying a unique experience.
Commenting on their partnership with Dream Cricket Sri Lanka, Medi-Calls Chairman Gerald A. Delilkhan stated: “As a cricket fan myself, I am very enthusiastic at the prospect of Medi-Calls being the Medical Service Sponsor of Dream Cricket. We are delighted to sponsor six Dream Cricket Days this coming year, thereby elevating the quality of human life for a marginalised group of our citizens.”
Rotaractor Hasini Munasinghe, Chairperson of the Rotaract Dream Cricket Committee, stated: “We are very happy that Medi-Calls has decided to join hands with us in this cause of bringing joy to 89 differently-abled children by getting them to enjoy different aspects of the game of cricket.”
Commenting on the significance of the Medi-Calls’ medical service sponsorship to Dream Cricket, Rotarian Sebastian Karunakaran, Brand Ambassador of Dream Cricket in Sri Lanka, stated: “The 25th June Dream Cricket Day will be the third consecutive time that Medi-Calls has come on board as our official Medical Service Sponsor. In the past two Dream Cricket Days, Medi-Calls has been an invaluable partner to us, since the physical well-being of the participants – differently able children – is a top priority for us, as the organisers of this event.”
