The Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) kicked off the 26th edition of the “League” Tournament 2016, featuring a record number of 47 teams on Thursday.
The Men’s Tournament has 38 teams playing in 05 divisions and the Women’s tournament has 09 teams playing in 02 divisions. It will conclude on 7 October.
The 128 Matches in total will be simultaneously conducted at 02 venues, namely, the Edward Henry Pedris Sports Complex Court and the Otter Aquatic Club Court.
This is the second tournament that the MSBA is conducting for the current season, having successfully completed the Ram Ratnavale Memorial Challenge Trophy Knock-out Tournament in June 2016
The Men’s League
“A” division (06 teams): DFCC Bank, HNB, NTB “A”, Sampath Bank, Commercial Credit & Finance & Union Assurance.
“B” division (04 teams): MAS Holdings “Reds”, Dialog Axiata, Sri Lankan Airlines “A” & John Keells Group
“C” division (05 teams): Kanrich Finance, NDB Bank, LB Finance, HSBC & David Pieris Motor Co.
“D” division (10 teams in 02 groups)
Group “A” (05 teams): Union Bank, Softlogic Group, Sri Lankan Airlines “B”, Hirdaramani Industries and LOLC Group.
Group “B” (05 teams) – MAS Holdings “Blacks”, Seylan Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Commercial Bank and NTB “B”.
“E” division (13 teams in 02 groups)
Group “A” (07 teams) - Mobitel, Millennium IT, Aitken Spence Group, Abans Group, Sarva Integrated, UB Finance and Airport & Aviation Services.
Group “B” (06 teams) – WNS Global, IFS R&D International, Amana Bank, Ceylon Tobacco Co., Citizen Development Business Finance and Copal Amba.

“A” division (04 teams): Seylan Bank, NTB, Commercial Credit & Finance and HNB.
