Methodist College crowned Under-19 C Division basketball champions

The Methodist College Colombo Under-19 basketball team became champions, beating Gateway College, Kandy 31–28 in the C Division Basketball Championship.

It was an intense final match where Gateway was leading in the second quarter 17-13. The last quarter saw Methodist College pulling their weight and leading the way at the final whistle. Gaveshini Abeygunawardena was the leading scorer for Methodist by netting 12 followed by Vidushi Costa, Udhara, Zainab and Uthpala.

On their run to the finals, they beat Anula Devi, Galle 34-7; Yashodara Balika Vidyalaya, Gampaha 62-24; Dharmapala, Pannipitiya 32-7; Lyceum International, Panadura 36-25 in the semifinals. Methodist College Captain Gaveshini Abeygunawardena was awarded the most valuable player while Udhara Ranatunga was the best defensive player.
