Mihith dominates Ambalangoda pool with nine records

Promising swimmer Mihith Eknaligoda from Ananda College completed an astonishing feat when he established nine national records at the Super Six Junior Short Course Swimming Championship held at the Dharmasoka College Swimming Complex in Ambalangoda recently.

Mihith competed in the Under-8 age category, where he established new national records in all nine events he took part in.

This is considered the first-ever occasion that such a feat has been achieved by a young swimmer at any meet in the country. His extraordinary achievement made Mihith eligible to annex the most outstanding swimmer in the Under-8 age group while he also went on to bag the most outstanding swimmer award of the event. The youngster, who represents Fingara Sports Club at club events, trains under the watchful eyes of Coach Chamara Waduge.

Records that Mihith established:

  •     Under-8 100m individual 

medley: 1.35 minutes

  •     Under-8 25m freestyle:  16.84  seconds
  •     Under-8 25m breaststroke:  22.49 seconds
  •     Under-8 25m backstroke:  20.81 seconds
  •     Under-8 25m butterfly stroke: 17.73 seconds

Under-8 50m freestyle: 37.82 seconds

  •     Under-8 50m breaststroke: 50.07 seconds
  •     Under-8 50m backstroke: 44.99 seconds

 

 

Limandi sets two new swimming records

Limandi Hettiarachchi of Lyceum International School Nugegoda established two new records in the Under-8 Girls’ category at the Super Six Junior Short Course Swimming Championship held at the Dharmasoka College Swimming Complex in Ambalangoda.

Limandi competed at nine events and won all her events with ease while establishing two new records at the meet. She represents Fingara Sports Club and is coached by Chamara Waduge.
