The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) at a final meeting held yesterday decided to stage the final of the Milo President’s Trophy knockout tournament between unbeaten Isipathana College and Royal College at the Race Course rugby grounds on 16 July. Kick off is scheduled at 4:30 p.m.
Both Isipathana and Thomians objected citing home advantage for Royal playing at Royal Sports Complex.
SLSRFA Secretary Denzil Darling told Daily FT: “We decided to host the match at the Race Course rugby grounds, which will not give either of the teams any advantage over the other. We will make all arrangements; security of players, match officials and spectators will be the highest priority for us. Earlier the final was scheduled on 9 July but we need to postpone by a week in order to have everything in place. Our sponsors Nestle has been sponsoring the Milo Knockout since 1995.”
The roads will lead to Race Course on 16 July when unbeaten Isipathana lock horns with Royal in the Grand Final.
According to reliable sources, Rohan Fernando who had an average game in the second semi-final has been selected to officiate the Grand Final.
