MJM LAFIR Billiards and Snooker tournament 2013

The MJM Lafir Billiards and Snooker tournament held in memory of the late World Billiard Champion MJM Lafir conducted by the social and recreational committee of the Moors’ Islamic Cultural Home has been a success over the past.  

Late M.J.M. Lafir immortalised in Sports record Books by winning the World Amateur Billiard Championship in 1973 and in the process establishing few records brought unprecedented reckoning to Sri Lanka.

The fame and prestige he brought to his motherland was so overwhelming that all nations were magnanimous in their praise for him and the land that produced this amazing Cueist.

The International Tournament represented by clubs/societies/associations affiliated to the Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka with the participation of the top ranked players from India will be held from 25 March to 6 April 2013. Mayor of Colombo A.J.M. Muzammil will be the Chief Guest at the Opening Ceremony.

The MICH Billiard Parlour at No. 115, Dematagoda Road, Colombo 9, has been the appropriate and magnificent venue for the conduction of such a tournament with fully equipped four international standard billiard tables, air-conditioned parlour and a seating accommodation for more than 150 spectators.

Entry Fee of Rs. 500 per participant is levied and entry forms will be available at every affiliated club of Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka and also could be obtained from the tournament organisers.

The Snooker Challenge Trophy is donated by M.J.M. Azwer while Billiard Ajward Hashim Challenge Trophy is donated by Zuraish Hashim.
