MLH Group revives Travel Trade Sports Club – Beach Volleyball Championships

Despite global enthusiasm for the sport now with the Olympics being the topic of all conversation, Club Bentota is taking the spirit of Beach Volleyball to a notch higher by playing host for the sixth Travel Trade Sports Club (TTSC) – Beach Volleyball Championships. After a six year lull, The Mount Lavinia Hotel Group (MLHG) took the initiative to revive the Championships this weekend, with a whopping team participation of over 24 teams from many sectors of the travel trade.

Arguably the home of beach volleyball today, walking the beach on any given time at Club Bentota, you will see all levels and all ages engaging in recreational 6-man games. Chintaka Daluwatte of MLHG states, “The sport has become as ingrained in the Club Bentota lifestyle as the home for exciting water sports, or watching the sunset, therefore it was naturally evident that we take on the initiative to revive this, and indeed there was great enthusiasm.”

The venue for the championship to be held on 11 August will be at Club Bentota formerly known formerly as Club Robinson. The all inclusive property surfaces a complete adventure holiday resort with a secluded and, breathtaking beach front to compliment the already luscious property. The property is 100% owned and a subsidiary of the MLHG. This premier all-inclusive hotel is located in a 15 acre palm fringed peninsula referred to as paradise island in beautiful Bentota.

24 teams from the hotel/aviation/leisure and hospitality sectors will vie for the ‘cup’, ‘plate’, and the ‘bowl’. To name a few teams that will participate are: SriLankan Airlines, Bentota Beach Hotel, Lanka Princess, Eden Hotel and Spa, Jetwing Blue, Jetwing Beach, Heritance Ahungalle, Amaya Hills, Club Bentota.

The special awards on offer are ‘The Most Outstanding Player’, ‘Most Promising Player’, and the ‘Most Up And Coming Player’.
