MOBIL-sponsored Shehara Jayawardana shines at Katukurunda

MOBIL Brand Ambassador, female race car driver Shehara Jayawardana, became runner-up and the second runner-up in the SLH 1600 category race 1 and 2 held recently at Sri Lanka Super Series Katukurunda race meet.

This was the third round of the Sri Lanka Super Series 2014 motor races, and was held at the Katukurunda Air Force Track. Commenting on her performance Shehara said: “I am very happy to be placed on the podium on both races, being my first time taking part in this event, which is one of the fastest events being held. I hope to continue to race in SLH 1600cc class in the future.” Shehara in her debut performance for the SLH 1600 category was the only female driver to achieve this feat according to motor racing records. She returned a time of 1.06 seconds on qualifying day and was placed second on the grid on the race day.
