Mobitel Eagles back in battle at Sri Lanka Rugby Super 7’s

Mobitel’s rugby team, the Mobitel Eagles, will once again do battle at the much-anticipated 2017 Sri Lanka Rugby Super 7’s. 

The tournament will be worked off over two legs with the first being played at the Nittawela grounds in Kandy on 8 and 9 July, following which the teams will travel to Colombo for the second leg on 15 and 16 July at the Race Course International Rugby Ground. The 2017 Eagles team for the Sri Lanka Rugby Super 7s consists of top-notch players Roshan Weeraratne (C), Anurudha Wilwara, Thilina Wijesinghe, Wajid Fowmy, Mohamed Absal, Promod Pathmasanka, Sharo Fernando, Prasantha Jayathunga, Mushin Falil, Chamod Fernando and Chathura Seneviratne. The team will be bolstered by leading international players.

Showing tremendous skill  and grit, the Mobitel Eagles fought off tough competition to end up as the overall champions of the Sri Lanka Super Sevens 2016, with a total aggregate of 55 points. The team displayed its running skills at every opportunity, finding gaps and also producing a tremendous defensive effort to stall their opponents.
