The eve event saw mishaps with the race being halted after six laps with Rameez Mahamoor crashing while negotiating a corner. At this stage Ashan was in lead followed by Pasindu. The race commenced for the second but the marshals had abandoned it again due to anther accident. The race started for a third time with only five cars and Ashan was off in a flash and kept on moving taking full control of the race and finished as the winner.
He was also the fastest driver on Sunday when set a new record on this course recording the best time for cars clocking 54.8 seconds while making his fourth win on the day which also will be recorded as a new meet record.
Ashan speaking to the media said that he is thankful to his sponsors and also added that using Motul 300V motor sport line lubricants gave him extra confidence and performance to achieve this great record. Ashan is to leave for Malaysia to compete in the GT-4 race to be held in Sepang Circuit on 30 June with the help of Sri Lanka’s Dilantha Malagamuwa.
