Sri Lanka sevens outfit will participate at the Singapore Cricket Club sevens which will be worked off in Singapore from 30 October to 1 November.
Sri Lanka have decided to send a development squad for this tour with few players taking wing from Singapore to Hong Kong for the Asian Qualifiers for RIO Olympic Sevens which will take place at the Hong Kong Stadium the following week-end.
The squad called as the Lanka “Lions” will have a minimum of five players touring to Singapore who could find their berth to Hong Kong as well.
Surprise inclusion by the national selectors is of the former Kingswood player Reeza Rafaideen. Reeza who did remarkably well at the Junior Asiad selection recently is considered a good replacement for his school mate Fazil Marija with experience and international exposure in time to come.
There will be 24 teams in the Singapore Cricket Club Annual sevens each group consists of six teams each with Jug, Bowl, Plate and Cup segment to be worked off after the group encounters.
The team comprises Captain Sudharshan Muthuthanthri – Havelocks SC, Richard Dharmapala – Kandy SC, Kanchana Ramanayake – CR&FC, Srinath Sooriyabandara – Kandy SC, Shenal Dias – Havelocks SC, Sandun Herath – Havelocks SC, Hirantha Perera – Havelocks SC, Jason Dissanayake – CR&FC, Viswamithra Jayasinghe – Kandy SC, Dinusha Chathuranga – Navy SC, Rohan Thiyagarajah – Havelocks SC and Reeza Raffideen – Police SC.
