The Southern Cup III Planters’ Cricket Tournament, organised by Plantation Human Development Trust, Galle Regional Director L.R. Perera was conducted on 5 October at the BOI grounds in Koggala.
Planters from seven regional plantation companies comprising 56 estates from the south took part in this event. The Chief Guest of this event was Maturata Plantations Chief Executive Officer Manik Weerasinghe and the Guest of Honour was Elpitiya Plantations Chief Executive Officer Bhathiya Bulumulla.
Namunukula Plantations, led by Prins Gunasekera, won the tournament for the third consecutive year beating Talawakelle Plantations by 50 runs. Wageesh Kularatne was adjudged the Man-of-the-tournament.
