The Sri Lanka Navy has suspended four Navy Sports Club (NSC) rugby players for wearing wristbands showing support to their former captain of the Navy rugby team, Yoshitha Rajapaksa during a match.

The four navy men were wearing wrist bands that said “YOO7” during a match with the Army at the Dialog Rugby league encounter on Sunday (14) to show solidarity with their former captain, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second son.

Navy Lieutenant Yoshitha Rajapaksa is currently in remand custody over allegations of money laundering.

Navy Spokesman, Captain Akram Alavi said that the four navy players had been suspended from the team while investigations are being carried out into the incident.
