Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage yesterday brought in new laws amending the Anti-Doping (Prohibited List) No. 01 of 2014 published in Gazette No. 1863/4, which came out in last May.
The Minister issuing a new Gazette – No.1878/44 of 5 September – listed prohibited substances and prohibited methods in retrospect.
According to new laws, all anabolic agents including Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS), Clenbuterol, Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs), Tibolone, Zeranol and Zilpaterol are prohibited.
Peptide hormones, growth factors and related substances, BETA-2 agonists, hormone and metabolic modulators, diuretics and other masking agents, stimulants, narcotics, cannabinoids and glucocorticosteroides are also in the banned list.
Broadening the scope of the new law, the Minister has listed the manipulation of blood and blood components, chemical and physical manipulation and gene doping as prohibited methods to be on par with international standards and to regularise.
