The Oman Air Golf Classic 2012 was worked off 27 and 28 October at the Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Digana, Kandy, with Nimal Wettimuny emerging the overall winner of the Oman Air Trophy, while Gihan Wickremasinghe emerged the runner-up in a tournament which had to be decided by a tie breaker.

Wettimuny clinched the trophy by making a final combined nett score of 74 with a handicap of 6. Wickremasinghe also made a combined nett score of 74, forcing the Tournament Committee to implement the tie breaker system of count back on the 18 holes. Wettimuny’s slightly more consistent performance of 18:37 over Wickremasinghe’s 18:34 and handicap of 16 were the deciding factors in handing out the trophies.

The four main winners were also awarded air tickets from Oman Air, with the overall winner receiving a ticket to any Oman Air destination, the Overall Runner-up receiving a ticket to any Oman Air destination in Europe, and the Gross Gents and Ladies winners receiving tickets to any Oman Air destination in the Gulf or Middle East.

Conducted over the course of two days, the Oman Air Golf Classic 2012 saw the participation of over 70 golfers, including many prominent businessmen from Oman and Sri Lanka.
