Nippon Paint and Heshan Flexe Packaging to battle for Commercial Credit and Finance Trophy

Two teams with an abundance of talent, Heshan Flexe Packaging and Nippon Paint, will battle to claim ownership of the new Commercial Credit and Finance Trophy when they meet in the final of the MCA ‘F’ Division 25-Over League Tournament 2016, on Saturday at the MCA grounds, commencing at 10.00 a.m. 

Nippon Paint has the edge as they are so far unbeaten while Heshan Flexe has a blemish, having lost to Hirdaramani at the league stage. 

On their way to the final, Heshan Flexe Packaging beat Brandix Essentials ‘B’ in the pre-quarter finals, Janashakthi Insurance in the quarterfinals and HNB ‘B’ in the semi-finals. Nippon Paint beat Lion Brewery in the pre-quarterfinals, Hayleys Group ‘B’ in the quarterfinals and MJF Group in the semi-finals.

MCA Committee and Lanka Cavaliers set for annual clash

 

The 13th annual cricket encounter between the MCA Committee and Lanka Cavaliers will take place this Sunday at the MCA grounds, commencing at 10.00 a.m.

At the previous encounter, which took place on 19 September 2015 at the MCA grounds, the MCA Committee edged out Lankan Cavaliers by five runs to regain the Tyrone de Silva Challenge Trophy.

The series was inaugurated in 2004 and after 12 encounters the tally stands at seven wins for the MCA and three wins for Lanka Cavaliers. In 2006 the match ended in a draw while the 2014 match was a joint win. 

Former MCA President Tyrone de Silva, who donated the trophy during his tenure, will be the Chief Guest.
