No upsets in quarterfinal stage for the open/gold division

On day two the top four qualifiers got through with Ishira Fernando, Prashan Peiris, Zaffar Sikkander and Charya Kannangara all having convincing wins.
The Silver Division for age group 11 to 14+ saw a minor upset for 3rd placed qualifier Tania Balasuriya who was knocked out by 6th place qualifier Dilip Muthukumara. Top qualifier Sathsara Dilshan had an unexpected rest day when his opponent could not play due to an injury. However, 2nd placed qualifier was made to fight hard to beat young Avisha Gunawardena the 7th place qualifier.
The Bronze Division for age group under 10+ had a few upsets with top qualifier Sidath Desinghe being shown the door by Levon Niyarapola who just made it into the top qualifiers. This format of tournament brings this kind of uncertainty of match play along with the excitement. Even the 2nd qualifier Tienn Kapilasena followed Desinghe when in a tense battle he lost to 7th qualifier Vikash Thangadore at the final hole. Mahisha Hirushan and K. Danushan also had a game battle right along with Mahisha managing to win on the penultimate hole. Just one girl remained in the knockout stage when Kayla Perera beat Yannik Kumara.

Open/Gold Division - Ishira Fernando beat S. Kailash 7/5, Charya Kannangara beat Januka Dilshan 2/1, Prashan Peiris beat Navika Ediriwira 5/4 and Zaffar Sikkander beat Laminda Rainika 7/5.
Silver Division – Sathsara Dilshan w/o, Prashan Heendeniyage beat Avisha Gunawardene 2/1 and Dilip Muthukumar beat Tania Balasuriya 3/2
Bronze Division – Levon Niyarepola beat Sidath Desinghe 4/3, Mahisha Hirushan beat K. Danushan 3/1, Vikash Thangadore beat Tienn Kapilasena 1 up and Kayla Perera beat Yannik Kumara 4/3.
Plate Winners – Best gross score on Day 2 for non-qualifiers
Gold Plate – D. Dhanaranjan 84; Silver Plate - Vihan De Alwis 98 and Bronze Plate (9 holes) - J. M. S. De Saram 59.
