NTB, Aitken Spence, Virtusa shine in MSBA League Basketball tourney

Mishika Gunawijaya  (21 points) came up with a sterling performance for Nations Trust Bank, as they trounced IFS R&D International, 40/13 in the Womens “B” division of the 27th MSBA League Basketball Tournament 2017 continued at Sir Edward Henry Pedris Stadium on Tuesday, 13 June;  NTB led 23/5 at half time. 

On the same evening, IFS R&D International Men went down fighting to Aitken Spence Group, 39/40 in the “E” division; IFS & RD Int. led 21/20 at half time; Rashmika Lawrence (19) was the match winner for Aitken Spence, while Nadun Withanachchi (20) played a die-hard game for IFS. 

In the same division, Virtusa Ltd., making a comeback to Mercantile Basketball after a lapse, scored an impressive, 40/30 win over debutants, London Stock Exchange Group; Virtusa held a commanding lead (21/10) at the breather; Kasun Chamara (12) and M. Minul  (12) were the top shooters for the winners.
