NZ Minister Nathan Guy to lead Cricket World Cup business mission to SL

New Zealand Minister for Primary Industries, Nathan Guy is leading a business delegation to Colombo this week to further strengthen trade ties between Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the lead-up to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Stephen Fleming, ex-New Zealand cricket captain and coach of the Chennai Super Kings is accompanying Minister Guy on his visit to Colombo as the NZ Champion for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 tournament.

Minister Guy, Stephen Fleming and the New Zealand trade delegation’s visit will further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. “New Zealand and Sri Lanka are both great cricketing nations. I am delighted to be leading this trade mission, and also to celebrate New Zealand’s hosting of the ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup,” says Guy. Minister Guy is leading a six-day trade mission to Sri Lanka and India this week, accompanied by representatives from the New Zealand business community. New Zealand currently exports $ 288 m to Sri Lanka and is a world-class destination for holiday-makers and students. “I am pleased to be bringing a New Zealand delegation that will be investigating areas where our companies can do more together. New Zealand has strengths in the primary industries, and Anchor is well known in Sri Lanka. We also have education, training and tourism interests that we will be advancing. “On the cricket pitch we are fierce competitors, but our trade and business links with Sri Lanka are stronger than ever,” says Guy. Sri Lanka will play New Zealand in the opening match of the Cricket World Cup in Christchurch on 14 February 2015.
