Omega Line wins Mercantile Women’s Volleyball Championship 2016

Omega Line, a leading apparel manufacturer and exporter in Sri Lanka, won the Mercantile A Division championship at the Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2016 held at the Maharagama National Youth Services Council indoor stadium.  

The tournament hosted 30 women’s volleyball teams representing leading mercantile sector companies in the country. 

Omega Line clinched the main awards at the 2016 tournament. Prabodha Thilekeratne who led the Omega Line team clinched the award for the Most Valuable Player while Prathibha Felix and Dulani Jayasinghe won the awards for the Best Attacker and Best Setter.

Commenting on the awards won by the team, team manager Dhammika Thushara Herath said it is significant Omega Line team won the championship the very first occasion it participated at the annual women’s Volleyball tournament. 

“As a company that contributes towards the betterment of sports, we are happy our team excelled at the tournament. Omega Line women’s volleyball team was set up just two months back. Winning the championship is a great achievement by our company and the team. The team had very little time to practice and they derived the best out of it. Omega Line winning women’s volleyball team comprises workers who have been working within the company.”

Trainers of the Omega Line women’s volleyball team are Channa Jayasekera and Pushpa Ranjani Boteju.

Captain of the team Prabodha Thilekeratne commented on this special win and said her team was able to achieve these heights within a short span of time due to the support and blessings of Omega Line Directors and the total workforce. 

“On behalf of the Omega Line women’s volleyball team, I pay my sincere gratitude to all of them,” she said.

Omega Line is a Sri Lankan export oriented company affiliated to Calzedonia (Calzedonia S. p. A) company in the Verona City in Italy.
