Parliament of Victoria welcomes Sri Lanka Cricket team

Sri Lanka’s World Cup cricket team has visited the Victorian Parliament, receiving an enthusiastic welcome from MPs and community members. Speaker Telmo Languiller officially greeted the team when they attended a sitting of the Legislative Assembly. “Welcome to Melbourne as we host the International Cricket Council Cricket World Cup 2015,” the Speaker said. “I am happy to see the team and the community here as we celebrate the achievement of the Sri Lankan cricket team, to cheer them on and wish them good luck.” The Sri Lankan team were special guests at an official reception with the Speaker, Minister for Sport John Eren, Consul-General of Sri Lanka Upul Pushpakumara, Victorian MPs and representatives of Victoria’s Sri Lankan community. On display at the reception was the ultimate prize – the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup trophy.
