Piramal Glass emerges victorious at LAUGFS Gas industrial-sector cricket tournament

The LAUGFS Gas Invitational Cricket Tournament for large-scale industrial LPG customers in the ceramic sector was held recently for the sixth consecutive year at Havelock grounds. The event brought together some of the largest manufacturers in the ceramic sector, who competed for the 2016 trophy.

“The LAUGFS Gas Trophy has become an important event in our calendar, where we are able to engage with some of our valued customers in a more relaxed atmosphere. Over the past six years, this has tremendously helped us to foster a sense of unity and camaraderie with our fellow professionals, further strengthening the trusted bond we have with them,” remarked LAUGFS Gas PLC’s CEO Ashan de Silva.

The tournament was held with the participation of 13 large-scale manufacturers in the tableware, tile, glass and sanitary ware sectors together with LAUGFS Gas, forming 14 teams battling it out for the cup. The day and night event held at Havelock grounds drew in large crowds of spectators from participating companies to cheer and witness the athletic prowess of their teams.

After an invigorating tournament, Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC and LAUGFS Gas met in the Final, where Piramal Glass emerged as the champions of the tournament following an exciting match. Roshan Indika from LAUGFS Gas was named Man of the Series and the Best Batsman. Danushka Amarasinghe from Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC was awarded the Best Bowler title.

The participating teams included Art Decorations International Ltd., Dankotuwa Porcelain Ltd., Lanka Tiles Ltd., Lanka Wall Tiles Ltd., Midaya Ceramics Ltd., Noritake Porcelain Lanka Ltd., Piramal Glass Ceylon PLC, Rocell Bathware Ltd., Royal Ceramics Ltd., Royal Fernwood Porcelain Ltd., Royal Porcelain Ltd., RSL Ceramics Ltd., and Samson Rajarata Tiles Ltd.
