Plans for modern pavilion, 150-room city hotel to be unveiled at Bloomfield today

Bloomfield President Hirantha Perera will unveil proposed plans for the club’s modern pavilion building, including a 150-room city hotel at their AGM today (3 January). The initiative is a joint venture between Bloomfield, the UDA and Sri Lanka Insurance (investor). The groundbreaking ceremony has been planned during January 2015 at an auspicious time. The project will take around 18-24 months to complete. The entire project will be handled by the UDA. Perera said this was the club biggest achievement in their 120-year history. “We will be placed in the highest level amongst all clubs once it’s completed,” he added. He thanked Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, UDA Chairman Nimal Perera and SLI Chairman Upali Dharmadasa for the vision and support they extended to Bloomfield in fulfilling their long-held need. He also thanked the untiring efforts of Bloomfield Secretary Rohan de Alwis, Senior VP Jayantha Seneviratne, Treasurer Nihal Marasinghe, Ground Secretary Ashraff Ghany, VP Lalith Kaluperuma, Ranjith De Mel and the entire ExCo for their whole-hearted support during negotiations.
