Sri Lanka’s hope in T20 Champions League the Kandurata Maroons has performed poorly losing all three matches played.
The latest humiliation was when it lost to Pakistan’s Faisalabad Wolves yesterday. Both teams have failed to advance in the T20 Champions League being played in India.
Earlier Kandurata Maroons lost to India’s Sunrisers Hyderabad and New Zealand’s Otago Volts.
Faisalabad Captain Misbah-Ul-Haq missed out on a century when he finished unbeaten 93 off 60 balls in a powerful innings studded with six 4s and five 6s.
During the campaign he scored 195 runs inclusive of three half centuries whereas his team mates combined managed only 190. However Faisalabad had a consolation win in the tournament whereas Kandurata went down miserably. Kandurata Maroons Captain Lahiru Thirimanne said: “We didn’t play to out potential, we had a very good chance of winning but we couldn’t. We need to be consistent at this level and they batted and bowled very well. 147 is chaseable but our batsmen didn’t do very well today.”
Chief Scores: Faisalabad Wolves 146 for 6 (Misbah 93*, Lokuhettige 3-21) beat Kandurata Maroons 136 for 7 (Sangakkara 44, Adil 3-25)
