Premadasa Riding School’s Dressage Competition 2014 on Saturday

Horse riding is a sport which is slowly gathering ground in the island. The unique nature of the sport, where children and adults participation and performance is reliant on the ability and the docility of the horse that they are riding, it is one that often develops amazing relationships with animals and humans. The Premadasa Riding School is now preparing for the Dressage Competition 2014, to be held at riding school arena the 11/12 Melder Place Nugegoda on 31 May 2014 (Saturday). Dressage is the foundation for horse riding competitions the world over. It is the ability of the horse and rider to communicate effectively and efficiently by performing predetermined tests over a short course outline. It is a display of the basic skills learnt in horse riding. This sport is a fascinating element of horse riding, which teaches discipline, team work and fosters a unique partnership with one of nature’s most beautiful creatures. The competition will commence at 3 p.m., at the Premadasa Riding School arena. Participation is anticipated from students from the Premadasa Riding School, St Thomas’ Gurutalawa and the Victoria Saddle Club. Competitors will be from ages seven years upwards. This sport is a regular feature of horse sports held in Sri Lanka and is an ideal platform for horse riders learning the sport to implement their skills and compete. Other horse riding competitions include – show jumping, mounted games, tent pegging and endurance competitions.
