The Hameed Al Husseinie College, Colombo, Group of 80’s has organised the President Cup Inter-School Football Tournament 2017 which will be carried out from 7-22 January.

The opening ceremony will be held on 7 January at 3.00 p.m. at the Race Course Grounds under the patronage of Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilake.

The 24 schools that will participate in the tournament are Ananda College Colombo, Al Hilal Central College Negombo, St. Joseph College Colombo, Al Mubarak Central College Malwana, D.S. Senanayake College Colombo, De Mazenod College Kandana, Hameed Al Husseinie College Colombo, Hindu College Colombo, Holy Cross College Kalutara, Isipathana College Colombo, Lumbini College Colombo, Maris Stella College Negombo, Royal College Colombo, St. Peter’s College Colombo, St. Benedict’s College Colombo, Thurstan College Colombo, T.B. Jayah Zahira College Colombo, Wesley College Colombo, Zahira College Gampola, St. Patrick’s College Jaffna, Nalanda College Colombo, Kalutara Muslim Central College Kalutara and Zahira College Colombo.    

The champion team will receive the President’s Trophy, medals and certificates while the runner-up team will receive a trophy, medals and certificates.  

The Most Valuable Player of the each match, Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament, Highest Goal Scorer of the Tournament and Most Valuable Player of the Tournament will receive awards for their achievement.

The final match will be held on 22 January at the Race Course Grounds in Colombo under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Group of 80’s President Lahir Salih, Secretary M.B.M. Zabeer, Tournament Committee Chairman M.S.M. Iqbal and Sports Committee Chairman P.M.M. Mushid were also present.
