Prima Sunrise Bread to sponsor Regional Junior Open Golf C’ship in Trincomalee

This year for the first time, the Sri Lanka Golf Union has introduced a regional junior open to foster talent regionally and in turn talent scout for representation at national level. The main sponsor of Junior Golf Tournament ‘Prima Sunrise Bread’ has partnered with the Sri Lanka Golf Union to sponsor the Regional Junior Opens to be held during the year 2013.
The inaugural Tournament was held at the picturesque Victoria Golf and Country Resort, Digana and the second tournament scheduled for the year is to be played at the newly constructed Eagles’ Golf Links, China Bay Trincomalee.
The tournament will be played over two days and will comprise of three age groups namely; 15-17 years (Gold Division), 11-14 years and 10 years and under (Bronze Division). The tournament will be open to both boys and girls under the respective age group categories.
Most of winners of the first Tournament will be competing for top honours at the Eagles’ Links Golf course which is a challenging one for juniors. However, we are likely to see the likes of Zaffar Srikkandar, Ishan Dilranga, Dhanaranjan , Armand Flamer Caldera, Ishira Fernando, Arvind Hirdaramani, Vinod Weerasinghe and Shemani Jagoda battle it out for top honours among the senior age group categories.
The junior segment should see fresh talent blossoming with the likes of Kyle Perera, the Godfrey brothers, Mahisha Hirushan and Sathsara Dilshan taking the field.
