National youth player and present Trinity College skipper, Rahul Karunathilake will be banned for one match due to his “Red Card” offence in their last game against the Thomians. This means he will miss out the first leg of the 72nd “Bradby” Shield which will be worked off at the Royal Sports Complex on 30 April.
Speaking to Daily FT, Secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Association (SLSRFA) said after the disciplinary committee meeting it was decided to give a one match ban for Rahul Karunathilake. Rahul received a “Red Card” as a result of two successive infringements committed in their Thomian game last week. The first infringement was an offside error while the second one was a high tackle on a forward. Trinity administration formally appealed to the SLSRFA for an inquiry which took place at the Lumbini College last evening.
Meanwhile St Peter’s Number 8 Senura Premawardena too received one match ban for his “Red Card” against Isipathana last week.
