The officer conducting investigations on behalf of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board on Sri Lanka ‘A’ Team cricketer Ramith Rambukwella over his alleged behaviour while he was in a British passenger plane, is to record a statement from him over the incident, Sri Lanka Cricket said yesterday.
The Cricket Board said that the Inquiring officer, Retired Senior Superintendent of Police Lakshman De Silva reported to the Executive Committee of the Cricket Board when it met today, that he will first be recording evidence from Champaka Ramanayake who was a witness to the incident.
Ramanayake is currently overseas and will be called upon to give evidence as soon as he returns to the country.
The inquiring officer is also awaiting a report from British Airways and the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAA) over the incident.
“It was stated that no reports have been received so far by CAA of Sri Lanka regarding this incident. It was also stated that after receiving the statement from the key witness Champaka Ramanayake, Ramith Rambukwella will be called upon to give his statement. The Exco requested De Silva to expedite the matter and give his finding to the CEO as soon as possible,” the Sri Lanka Cricket Board said.
