Randev wins Gold at National Shotokan Karate Championships 2014

The 7th National Shotokan Karate Championship 2014 was held at the Sugathadasa Stadium, attracting 780 competitors from many of the leading schools across the country. Lanka Schools Team and was the Silver medallion at the premier Asian Karate tournament – Milo Karate Cup in 2013. Commenting on his win, young Athukorala said: “My father reminds me before competition that it’s not about winning, but learning to be competitive.” Randev is being trained by Shihan Hiroshi Ota (Japan), Sensei Allan Campbell (Great Britain) and in Sri Lanka by Sensei D.M. Nimal (5th Dan Black Belt) and his father Rohantha Athukorala (2nd Dan Black Belt). The Assistant Coach is Sensei Safraz. Young Athukorala is a Gold Medallion at the Sri Lanka Schools Karate Championships, Shito – Ryu Sri Lanka Championships, Kenshinkai Do Federation and Schools Karate Federation. Internationally he is a Silver Medallion at the Karate Cup Malaysia when he was 10 years old and Japan Karate Cup Gold Medallion.
