Randev wins Gold at Senshi Karate Open

Sri Lanka Schools karateka Randev Athukorala of St. Peter’s College won the Black Belt at the Karate Open Championship Gold Medal at the Senshi Shotokan Karate Championships in the Katha category under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Schools Karate Do Association (Ministry of Education). Thirteen-year-old Randev Athukorala has twice won in the ‘Most Outstanding Sportsman’ category at St. Peter’s College Colours Night 2014 and is a Silver medallist at the Asian Milo Karate Championships staged in Malaysia while being a double medal winner at the Nepal Karate Championship held in Kathmandu when touring with the Sri Lanka Schools Karate Team. He is trained locally by Sensei D.M. Nimal while internationally Randev is trained by Shihan Hiroshi Ota (Japan), Sensei Allan Campbell (Great Britain) and his father Rohantha Athukorala (2nd Dan black belt). Young Athukorala has also won a gold medal at the Sri Lanka Schools Karate Championships, Shito-Ryu Sri Lanka Championships, Kenshinkai Do Federation and Schools Karate Federation tournaments while representing Sri Lanka five times internationally at Asian Schools Karate tournaments.
