Trinity College and Sri Lanka Under 19 cricketer Ravin Sayer led the Trinity Under 19 team for 2015/2016. Nushan Weerasinghe another third year player and Sri Lanka Under 19 player was the acting skipper for the same season. The Trinity outfit commenced their interschool season against Maliyadeva College at the Asigiriya Stadium yesterday.
Fourth year player Ravin Sayer took 108 wickets in 2013/2014 and continued his good work with another 96 wickets last season after missing out on four matches due to national duty. He toured with the Sri Lanka Under 19 squad to England and later on represented the country on the return tour. He is also in the Under 19 squad for next month’s Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka.
The right hand opening batsman who opened in two games against Bangladesh helped his school to pocket the sixteenth win in the one day series against their rivals St. Anthony’s College. Nushan Weerasinghe scored 96 runs off 112 balls.
Nushan who played for Trinity from Under 13, Under 15, Under 17 and Under 19 (third year coloursman) scored more than 500 runs last season despite missing out on four matches due to national duty against the Bangladesh Under 19 outfit. In 2013 as well he scored more than 500 runs in the interschool season.
