Endurance Karting Championship 2014 has just got interesting with the end of the third round of the championship. The third round of the Endurance Karting Championship organised by Speed Drome together with Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC) concluded on 23 August at Speed Drome Karting centre in Battaramulla. It saw plenty of drama unfold at the track as teams went in to a wet qualifying session with the rain delaying the start of the race by one hour. However Raptor racing used the conditions to their advantage and gained the pole position followed by BKMS on P2 and Intek racing on P3. Raptor racing managed to lead the race until 75% of the race with ETD racing showing some spirited fight following them right behind on the same lap. Due to an early and fast pit stop strategy by ETD Racing against Raptor racing managed to take the lead from Raptor racing and driver Dhulmith Mendis from team ETD drove his heart off to extend the gap between Raptor racing driver Charith Gunawardana during the last hour. Both ETD Racing and Raptor racing displayed an excellent show of competition on and off the track, taking the race to the last minute chasing each other for the win and ended up with just mere 2 lap difference. ETD Racing also managed to complete 500 laps at Speed Drome track becoming the first ever team to complete this amount of laps in any race in Sri Lankan motor racing history. Intek Racing took third place despite being hit by a Stop go penalty, and the rookie team SLR Motor Sports also showed some encouraging spirits throughout their debut endurance race. A special thank should go to Wurth Lanka the sponsor of the Endurance Karting Championship 2014 and E Fm the radio partner who has given all these talented teams and the organisers the encouragement to organise this championship. After the conclusion of Round 3, the top of the points table is a tie with top 2 teams Gunners and Raptor racing with 62 points each and closely followed by 3rd place BKMS Racing and 4th place Intek racing.
