To be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at the historic Royal Colombo Golf Course, the PWM Junior Masters Golf Championships 2016 can now be entered via an online submission form at www.ndbwealth.com. Interested parties are encouraged to click the “Register Now” button on the homepage of the NDB Wealth website, which will continue to accept entries until August 15, 2016.
Commenting, NDB Wealth CEO Prabodha Samarasekera said, “Golf is that perfect blend of commitment, planning, foresight, calculation and ambition, which is also unsurprisingly the foundation of exemplary financial planning. As such, NDB Wealth is pleased to once again host a junior golf tournament that aids young Sri Lankans in maximising their potential.” “Interestingly, with entries now being accepted online for the PWM Junior Masters Golf Championships 2016, this important tournament is also attracting a number of entrants from outside of Sri Lanka for the very first time, which not only raises the level of competition but also helps showcase our country as a emerging option for international sports tourism,” added Samarasekera.
Participant categories at the PWM Junior Masters Golf Championships 2016 have been restructured to align with the National Junior Golf Rankings. An initiative by the Sri Lanka Golf Union, in partnership with NDB Wealth, to foster junior golfers based on their performance at prior designated tournaments, the National Junior Golf Rankings encompass a Gold age group of 15 to 17 years old, a Silver age group of 12 to 14 years old, a Bronze age group of 10 to 11 years old, and a Copper age group of 9 years old and below.
Category Winners and Runners-up for 2015
In keeping with this structure, tournament rewards have also been increased to reflect the added category. As such, four category winners, along with first and second runners-up in each category, will each receive NDB Wealth accounts of significant value in 2016. Last year’s inaugural PWM Junior Masters Golf Championships featured a strong field of over 50 junior golfers of all ages, with Darren Hall lifting his hard won NDB Wealth Challenge Trophy, a result of an excellent overall score. In addition, Darren also secured the top prize for the Gold Under-18 Division, while Taniya Minel and Yannik Kumara won their respective Silver Under-15 Division and Bronze Under-11 Division titles. All three also earned hefty Rs. 100,000 NDB Wealth accounts, which serve as investments into their future.
