Former Science College, Kandy SC and Sri Lanka Sevens star Richard Dharmapala has been cleared to play in the Inter Club League Second Round Rugby Tournament.
He tested positive for a banned substance at the Asian Sevens series last year in Hong Kong. As per reliable sources, a second test turned out to be negative and proper procedure was not followed in conducting the first test.
When the Daily FT contacted Kandy Sports Club Rugby Chairman LasanthaWijesuriya, he said: “Yes, Richard is allowed to play and he will start training with the team immediately. He went through a tough time because of this and there was no proper procedure followed. This has damaged his name plus earnings as well in the rugby circle.”
Richard is expected to play in the second half against CR&FC as a scrum half.
