A new two-tiered pavilion with a seating capacity for 2,000, built with funding from corporate sponsors led by key donor Brandix Lanka Ltd. was formally declared open at the Royal College Sports Complex (RCSC) on Thursday, 13 June 2013, in time for the second leg encounter of the Bradby Shield fixture between Royal College and Trinity College.
Named the ‘Royal-Brandix Sky Pavilion’, the new facility increases the overall seating capacity of the venue to 12,500. The pavilion was constructed in seven months with lead funding from Sri Lanka’s single largest apparel exporter Brandix and contributions from E.B. Creasy, the RCU 175th Year Anniversary Committee, Cargills, Singer Sri Lanka, Etisalat, Browns Group, Expolanka, Maharajah Organisation, Mobitel, Ceylinco Insurance, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., ACL Cables, NDB Bank, Ceyline Group, CINEC, the Royal College Old Boys Association of UK (ORUK) and Royal College Old Boys Association of the West Coast (RCOBANA) and the RC Rugby Dinner Committee. The new pavilion was declared open with the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon by Deshamanya Ken Balendra, former Chairman of Brandix and Upali Gunasekara, Principal of Royal College.
