Royal Shines in KIT Cola Super 16 Junior Rugby tournament

The Royal College ‘Blue and Golds’ clinch the KIK Cola trophy in grand style in the under 10 and 12 age categories in the final which was worked off at the Royal Sports Complex on 25th September.

This tournament which was a 10 A side game was worked off from June onwards were adjudged winners on points basis until today’s final play off.

The Royal team U/10 and 12 with comprehensive wins had earned 140 points and 160 points respectively by beating all the teams they confronted for the last three months, and finally they were the cup contenders in both age categories.

Though the teams played the final game today the winners were awarded in the highest points earned in this 3 months tournament.

The winners of U/10 age groups are : CUP – Royal ‘Blues’ Runners up Isipathana A.

PLATE – St. Peters Gold / with 90 points, Runners up Zahira College Colombo 10.

BOWL – St. Josephs College with 63 points, Runners up D.S. Senanayake Gold

The winners of U/12 age groups are: CUP-Royal “Golds” Runners up Isipathana ‘A’

Plate – St. Peter's ‘A’ with 80 points, runners up Royal Gold.

Bowl – Wesley ‘A’ with 60 points, runners up D.S. Senanayake.  

The Zahira College Colombo lads presented ‘Haka’ during this tournament which made the audience very impressive.  The chief guest was Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunathilake (President SLRFU) while the guest of honour was Niranjan Palipane (Head of Marketing Beverages, asst Vice President JKH Ceylon Cold Stores PLC). This tournament was organized by Super 16 Committee comprising from nine schools in Colombo and sponsored by Elephant House KIK Cola.
