The annual Royal Thomian hockey encounter for the Orville Abeynaike memorial trophy will be played on 8 November at the Astro Turf, Colombo 7 at 4 p.m. The match is being played for the Abeynaike trophy for the 14th time and the tally stands as 7 games won by S. Thomas’, 4 games to Royal and 2 draws. Royal college Colombo are the current holders of the trophy. The match will be keenly contested by both schools this year. The chief guest on the occasion will be former Royalist M.I. De Silva, who represented Royal in 1967 and 1968 and Captained the school in 1968. He is the founder member of the Royal college hockey club.
The old boys hockey match will be played at 3 p.m. at the Astro turf, for the Nihal Nilaweera memorial trophy. S.Thomas’ are the current holders of this trophy.
