The Royal College Group of ’91 is organising their annual touch rugby tournament, Royal Touch Rugby Fiesta 2011 for the tenth consecutive time, this year. It will be held on Saturday 12 November at CR and FC grounds, starting at 12 noon.

The first Royal Touch Rugby Fiesta was organised in year 2002 with the prime objective of bringing various groups of past students together in order to promote goodwill and togetherness.

Rugby matches will start at 1.30p.m. and will go on until 8.30p.m. Semi finals and the final match will be played under flood lights and organisers are planning to make spectators witness exciting and cracking touch rugby throughout the evening. Around 20-25 rugby teams and 500 spectators are expected for the event.

Junior trophy is named as Summa Navarathnam Challenge Trophy. Mid category trophy is named as Group of 91 Challenge Trophy. Senior category is named as Senior Challenge Trophy.

In each successive year, the organising committee had made sure that novel items were introduced to make the event more & more attractive.

In past events there have been ladies invitation matches, evening matches played under floodlights, veterans matches where ruggerites of yesteryears played. Also, once the entire event was worked out at the Mount Lavinia Hotel beach.

There will be a special Children’s entertainment area, it’s include magic shows, face painting, pony rides, bouncer, pop corn, magic balloons and clowns, competitions for ladies and children, as well as standby doctors, paramedics and an ambulance will also be available throughout the event.
