Recognition and self-fulfilment are two things that motivate athletes to reach higher, achieve more and inspire others in the same direction. The 20th Sri Lanka Schools Milo Colours Award Ceremony held recently at the BMICH, witnessed the crowning of Sri Lanka’s finest young athletes for the 2012.   Recognising efforts Organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Sports Council under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, the awards ceremony seeks out young talented sports men and women in Sri Lanka. The award ceremony is held every year by the Sri Lanka Schools Sports Council under the patronage of the Ministry of Education, in recognition of school athletic talent throughout the nation. Young talented sports men and women are recognised for their efforts in respective fields of sport. Selective criteria consider national level and international level performances to select winners and have also asked respective sports associations to propose their annual lists for colours awards.     Royal mettle Competing on a fierce arena of myriad sports, Royal athletes were able to show their mettle and true colours. The sportsmanship and grit that inculcated in the Royalists, who are conditioned to men in the realm of ‘Books and Men’ and also ‘Play the Game’ has paid off handsomely. As such Royal College had no equal, when they swept the board at the awards night, bringing honour and glory to their alma mater.
