Ruhunu Royals beats Uthuru Rudras

Ruhunu Royals last night tasted their first victory in SLPL when they beat Uthura Rudras inflicting the latter with the second successive defeat.

The Ruhunu Royals victory was powered by its Captain Lasith Malinga who produced a fiery spell taking four wickets for 21 runs

Batting first Ruhuna Royals scored 145 for 3 in 16 overs. The innings was interrupted by rain mid-way. Andre Finch top scored with 65 off 48 balls with six 4s and 2 sixes and the fellow opener R. Rupasinghe scored a half century in 35 balls with five 4s and two 6s. The opening pair scored 97 runs.

In their reply Uthura Rudras were all out for 118. The team failed to put up a collective effort as only Captain Jehan Mubarak (28) and M. Maharoof (32) managed to make an impact. Opener Imran Farhat was lbw to Malinga in the second ball of the innings for naught.
