EZY Racing’s most successful racing duo Sajaad Zuhair and Dilan Seneviratne delivered yet another 100% podium winning weekend for Sri Lanka’s very first international racing team, when they stamped their class in the ever famous Katukurunda Race Track, organised by AMRC-Slardar.
The Zuhair and Seneviratne combination who have been driving for the black and red glamour racing team since 2012, have successfully transformed their friendship to a successful winning combination for EZY Racing.
Zuhair, who has been dominating the SLH 1600 event in his EZY Honda ER6 and the SLS 1500 event in his EZY Honda ER2 since 2013, delivered yet another double win to extend his 2015 season tally to four wins from five races.
Zuhair who started the day on pole in the SLH 1600 event, led from start to finish to win comfortably. Shehara De Silva Jayawardane displayed her racing prowess when she completed a stunning drive to gain a position on the 2nd placed Irfan Fuard.
“I first need to thank my team EZY Racing without whose support and encouragement this feature would not have been possible. EZY Racing together with my performance partners Auto Force have put together an impeccable car for the last 24 months to make this success sustainable. I am very pleased and fortunate to have been able to deliver success for the team to complete the hardwork that goes in before we arrive at the race track. Both Shehara (Jayawardane) and Irfan (Fuard) are good drivers. So it’s very pleasing to have been able to win over these two drivers,” said Zuhair.
Commenting further on his SLS 1500 race win, Zuhair stated that this victory was more challenging than winning the ER6. “This was an event where we knew the cars are equally powered and driving consistency was important. We had a few issues with the ER2 in our previous race in foxhill that hampered my qualifying. We had a few challenges during free practice and qualifying as well, but managed to overcome those. So it gave me a lot of pleasure.”
EZY Racing which has successfully transformed its success in Sri Lanka to become the country’s very first international motor racing team to compete in a FIA Championship, further strengthened its strides in 2015 by signing the multiple Junior Champion of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship, Mike Young to strengthen their campaign in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
“Local motor racing is still a very integral part of our strategy.” said the founder of EZY Racing, Shafraz Hamzadeen. “It’s our performance in Sri Lanka that has shaped our current identity internationally. Sajaad been a part of our team since our inception in 2009. He shares our passion to make winning a habit. Dilan has been working with us on a project we undertook called the ER10, which is our current SLGT contending car. If you remember Dilan had never driven in this class before and has matured in his driving along with the ER10.
“This year, we further strengthened our stride with the ER10 and are very pleased to see Dilan’s efforts in delivering a podium yet again. Our focus this year is to consolidate our position in the ER2 and ER6 and work further to making ER10 a race winning contender. We are positive that our current performance partnerships with Auto Force, Tuned I Chips, Dynamic Racing and Mobil will make this mission a reality,” stated Hamzadeen.
EZY Racing, which is scheduled to compete in the Australian leg of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) in June, will be looking to repeat the maiden APRC podium finish it won in New Zealand earlier this year, when its latest addition Mike Young delivered a stunning performance to almost topple 2013 APRC Champion Gaurav Gill from 2nd position.
