Samaposha powers inter-school football championship for the fourth consecutive year

Samaposha, the flagship cereal brand of Plenty Foods (Pvt.) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL) as a part of its continuous efforts to promote fitness through nutrition has stepped forward to sponsor the Under 13 Inter-school football Championship for the fourth consecutive year.

The tournament titled ‘Samaposha Under 13 All island Inter-school Football Championship 2012’, organized by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka kicked off on the 2nd of June 2012. Over 17,000 students, both boys and girls, from 600 schools from all parts of the island including the North and East are vying for one trophy, reflecting the positive response to the event.  The grand finale will be held on 6th ,7th and 8th  of July 2012 in  Trincomalee  where football is a much loved sport among the community. The finals will also see awards being presented to  Most Valuable Player and Best Goalkeeper.

 Samaposha is a renowned nutritious cereal brand that continuously advocates nutrition and vitality among young children.  Commenting on its  association with the event,  Shammi Karunaratne, Director/CEO of Plenty Foods (Pvt) Ltd. said “Samaposha is pleased to be sponsoring for the fourth consecutive year, an event where under 13 school boys and girls engage in energetic activity that require a high degree of fitness and well balanced nutrition that Samaposha really provides. We are therefore pleased to be a part of this event in an endeavor to promote fitness and nutrition among our younger generation.”

Samaposha has a close association with the game of football in Sri Lanka and the brand extends many extensive sponsorships towards the game throughout the year including Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under 13 International Girls Football Tournament in which Sri Lanka secured 3rd place.

The event saw the participation of countries like Bhutan, Iran, Jordan, India and Palestine. Plenty Foods Limited, manufactures Samaposha using only locally grown grains and pulses such as green gram, soya, rice and corn. Samaposha purchases all the raw material directly from the 8,000 plus farmer who are registered with the Company’s backward integration program.
