Sampath Bank shines in Mercantile Individual Badminton Championship

Sampath Bank Badminton Team became overall 2nd place in Mercantile Individual Badminton Championship which was held from 9 October to 13 October 2013 at St Thomas’s College Mt Lavinia. Thilini Jaysinghe became the best women player in the tournament by winning all three events.

Achievements were Thilini Jayasinghe (Marketing) – Champion – Women’s single; Thilini Jayasinghe/Shahani Ranjala (Marketing /Thimbirigasyaya) – Champions – Women’s doubles; Thilini Jayasinghe/Hasitha Chanaka (Marketing) – Champions – Mixed doubles; Tharanga Nishanthi (Kalutara) – Runner up – Women’s veterans; and Hasitha Chanaka (Marketing) – 3rd Place – Men’s Singles. Other players who took part in this tournament were Ishan Udayanga – Card Centre, Devendra Bandara – Operations and Yasas Balalla – Anuradhapura New Town branch. Sampath Bank became overall 2nd place only from seven players including Thilini Jayasinghe, Hasitha Chanaka, Shahani Ranjala, Tharanga Nishanthi, Ishan Udayanga, Devendra Bandara and Yasas Balalla.
