Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara moves up one place to fourth in the Reliance ICC ODI Player Rankings but his captain, Tillakaratne Dilshan, has dropped six places after a wretched series with the bat to sit joint-ninth with Australia captain Michael Clarke.
England off-spinner Graeme Swann has become the number-one ranked bowler in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers for the first time in his career after the 32-year-old claimed series figures of 8-164 against Sri Lanka.
England claimed victory in the fifth and final ODI of the series and by virtue of winning the enthralling series 3-2 has pushed Sri Lanka from third to fourth in the Reliance ICC ODI Championship. Sri Lanka has slipped below South Africa by a fraction of a ratings point while England has maintained its position in fifth.
In the bowler rankings, Swann’s ascension to the number-one spot has meant New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori has finally been knocked off the top, a place the former Black Caps skipper had occupied since September 2009.
