School rugby season to kick off in January

The inter-school rugby season, sponsored by Singer Sri Lanka, will kick off on 30 January, when the under-20 school teams in Division 1 clash with each other in the two-day, seven-a-side rugby tournament.

The blue ribbon of local schools rugby between Trinity College and Royal College will be played on 30 April in Colombo. This is the 72nd encounter between the two leading schools. The second leg will be played at Pallekelle on 14 May. This event too is propped up by Singer for the last two decades.

1. 30 and 31January – Under-20, 7-A-Side Rugby Tournament Division 1 – Colombo

2. 6 and 7 February – Under-20, 7-A-Side Rugby Tournament Division 2 – Galle

3. 13 and 14 February – Under-18, 7-A-Side Rugby Tournament Division 1 – Colombo

4. 15 March to 20 June – Under -20, Singer League Rugby Tournament Division 1, 2 and 3

First round:

1st Week – 15 to 21 March
