The Colombo District Scouts Swimming Meet, hosted by Wesley College, is scheduled to be held at Wesley College Swimming Pool on 8 November 2014 from 8.00 a.m.
The Colombo District Scouts Swimming Meet is an important annual event in the calendar of the district’s scouting activity and is sanctioned by the sport’s governing body SLAASU.
Over 300 participants from leading schools, along with parents, guests and invitees, will witness the event. The objective of staging the meet is to foster and develop skills and sports among the scouts.
Dual Olympian and former Sri Lankan swimming captain, Conrad Francis, who held 111 national records, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour will be Media Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, Harsha Abeykoon.
Colombo District Commissioner Riza Azoor, Wesley College OBA President Richie Sappideen and Acting Principal Rev. Ebenezer Joseph will be present at this colourful event.
Scouting is a global movement with over 40 million members worldwide. The Colombo District Branch of the Sri Lanka Scouts Association is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
